Free Track Tuesday’s Six Month Anniversary Edition!

Once upon a time, before the reign of Jersey Shore and Teen Mom, MTV played music videos. Back in the 1980s, videos were magical things, short movies with your favorite songs, populated by scantily clad models writhing around on muscle cars for the long haired musicians who lusted after them. But, as you think back to classic 1980s music videos, which ones come to mind? Probably not “You Might Think” by The Cars. Yet, in 1984, before two-fifths of us were even born, “You Might Think” won the very first MTV Video Music Award, beating out Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” with one of the first music videos to feature computer graphics.

We’re thinking a lot about firsts lately as this track marks the first of the second half of “Free Track Tuesday.” Hard to believe it’s been six months since we started. It’s a ton of work: every week we do everything ourselves, from arranging to tracking, editing to mixing (with frequent guest mastering by the awesome Dave Sperandio at Diovoce). You might think we’re crazy, but we’ve come a long way and learned a ton since we released Justin Bieber’s “Baby” as our first track back in September. Our plan is to go for a full year, so check back every week for a free download and tell your friends to do the same!

Although we hope you enjoy our take on this 1980s classic, it’s arguably even more fun to listen to live, so check out our calendar for upcoming gigs in your area! Enjoy!

You Might Think is no longer available as a free download.
