In Austin for SXSW!

Well, we’re in Austin for South by Southwest and it’s… crazy. So many people, all full of passion for music, film, art, BBQ, everything. It’s such an inspiration to be here and to have the chance to share our music with y’all.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at our shows. Hope we can return to TX soon!

People you should know: Michael Eldrege

As always, it was a huge honor to work with photographer and friend, Michael Eldridge, this time in Los Angeles. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Michael at other events including VoCALnation in New York City, SMACC in Syracuse and SoJam in Raleigh-Durham and each time he impresses us with his ability to capture the intensity, enthusiasm and vulnerability we strive to bring to our live show.

Even more than a talented artist, Michael is also an incredible educator: his workshops, “Feeling Music” and “Seeing Music” are both moving and masterful. We’re so honored to be able to work with Michael and to count him as a friend. Looking forward to seeing him again in a few weeks in San Antonio, TX!

Production Season is in full swing…

Eric with Cat's Meow It’s that time of year again! Collegiate groups everywhere are starting to work on their new albums and we’re pumped to be working with some brand new clients this season and reuniting with some old ones. Even better, Eric’s joined the Overboard Productions team as a tracking engineer. Hope he’s ready for 10 weeks of no sleep and no sun. Then again, he looks pretty happy here recording the first round of tracks for the UVM Cat’s Meow’s newest album. We think he’ll make it.

Keep an eye out for the Meow’s latest release, due out in May.

“Being apart ain’t easy on this love affair…”

There are some incredible songs out there that express how strange and lonely it can be on tour… Journey’s “Faithfully,” Jackson Bronwe’s “The Load-Out, maybe even Carole King’s “So Far Away” (even if it’s not, you should stop reading right now and go listen to it, because it’s incredible).

Well, we probably didn’t write the next great touring song, but we did write one tonight in our hotel room, circa Pittsburgh. We each wrote a verse, dedicated to our loved ones on this (almost) Valentine’s Day. Hope you enjoy!

Maybe the cutest a cappella video ever…

The newest release from the University of St. Andrew’s powerhouse group, The Other Guys, may have yielded the cutest a cappella video ever. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, here it is, from their new EP, “Just for You,” edited and mixed by Overboard Productions. Always a pleasure to work with these gentlemen!

And, in case you missed The Other Guys’ earlier videos, all of which we produced the audio for, catch up with them below:

For more from The Other Guys, like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

“The noises that came out of their mouths…”

We had a great time performing at Framingham State this past Tuesday. Thanks to Adam Farah for reviewing our show for The Gatepost!

CARA Nominations are here!!

Nominations for the 2013 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards are out! We’re so excited, not only to be nominated for the 5th year in a row, but also to have so many of our friends and production clients nominated as well. Check out the full list here.

Congrats to everyone nominated, see you in April for the awards ceremony at BOSS!

Overboard goes to 11.

When you’re a touring band, there are some things you can’t avoid. Late nights, long drives, questionable hotels. And Spinal Tap references. So when we got our very own VIP tour of Graceland yesterday, we couldn’t resist (illegally, it turns out, but that’s a story for another time) filming this homage to Spinal Tap. Enjoy!

Overboard takes Memphis!

With Briarcrest's OneVoice The Monkey Pony Tour continues with our first visit to Tennessee! After visiting Graceland, walking in Memphis and eating more BBQ than is socially acceptable, we were lucky enough to work with the insanely talented students from Briarcrest’s award-winning a cappella group, OneVoice. Under the direction of J.D. Frizzell, OneVoice has established itself as one of the premier high school vocal ensembles in the country with recognition for their live performances and recordings alike. Check out this video of their cover of Nick’s arrangement of “Freebird” to see them in action. That tune, along with a bunch of other great ones, can also be found on OneVoice’s most recent album, Another Level, which is available on iTunes.

While we were in Memphis, we recorded a collaborative track with OneVoice, a cover of Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child,” which will be released this spring. Keep an eye out!
